To apply for municipal housing, you must fulfill all of the following criteria at the time of application.

1 The applicant is an adult. (age 18 or over)

2 The applicant lives in Kawasaki City. Alternatively, the applicant has worked at the same place of employment in Kawasaki City for one year or longer.

3 The applicant currently lives with or plans to live with family/relatives. (Except for the housing for single-member households.)

4 The applicant is currently experiencing housing difficulties for one of the following reasons:

a) Rooms are too small (less than 4 tatami mats of living space per person.)

b) Rent is too expensive.

c) The applicant resides with a household other than relatives, and the kitchen and/or toilet is/are communal.

d) The applicant has received an eviction request from the landlord with an appropriate reason.

e) The applicant is living in a building not approved as housing.

f) It takes the applicant longer than 2 hours one-way to commute to his/her place of work. (Transfer time is calculated as 10 minutes.)

g) The applicant does not have his/her own place of residence and cannot reside with his/her family (including the fiancee/fiance).

h) Other apparent reasons why the applicant is currently experiencing housing difficulties.

5 The applicant's monthly income does not exceed the following restriction:

a) Ordinary households (except the special category households): 158,000 yen

b) Special category households: 214,000 yen

6 Resident's tax and rent payments have been fully paid and not delinquent.

7 The applicant is able to live peacefully with other residents in municipal housing.

8. The applicant or the family/relatives they plan to live with are not members of organized crime groups.
