Kawasaki city does not collect them since the Home Appliance Recycling Law is enforced on April 1, 2001.
Four home appliance items are as follows.
Air-Conditioner
TV (including a liquid-crystal TV/plasma TV)
Refrigerator/Freezer
Washing machine/Drying machine
The retailers where you purchased any of these four home appliances recently or in the past are obliged to collect such items for disposal. Please contact the retailers in this regard.
Even if you have bought it by mail shopping or at a used store, the shop has an obligation to pick it up. In case there is no retailer that can collect the items, you may dispose of the items by either of the following 2 methods:
1) Take them directly to the pickup area designated by the manufacturer.
2) Have them picked up by a member retailer (agreement shop) affiliated with the Kawasaki City Home Appliance Recycling Council
Recycling charges are required either way.
Consumers are required to bear transportation charge when they have the item picked up by retailers.
