The health checkups, examinations and vaccinations for infants conducted in Kawasaki City are as follows.

1 Blood tests of the newborn

Blood tests can detect early congenital metabolic disease, such as phenylketonuria. It can be examined at a hospital or doctor's office during the first 5 to 8 days of birth. Predetermined tests are free (at public expense), but blood sampling is not free.

2 Hearing tests of the newborn

In order to detect congenital hearing disorders at an early stage, hearing tests are conducting for newborns at delivery facilities. We have started to subsidize part of the testing costs for children born after October 1, 2021, so we recommend that you visit our clinic.

3 Health Checkups of the infants

We conduct the physical and mental development of infants and provide childcare consultation in the below period as.

We will send you individual notifications for all infant health checkups.

Also, the 1-month-old health checkup, 1-year-old health checkup and 2-year-old health checkup are optional checkups. You can get it at a medical institution if you want. This medical examination is not covered by the medical subsidy system for infants, so it will be charged for the medical examination. The city doesn't subsidize it.

4 Audiovisual examination

It is conducted at the 3-year-old checkup. We will send you a medical interview sheet about your eyesight and hearing along with the guide about the 3-year-old checkup.

5 Urinalysis

It is conducted at the checkup for 3 and 5 years old.

We will send you the application form for urinalysis along with the guide of the 3 years old checkup. For a checkup for 5 years old, please contact the cooperating medical institution that provides the checkup.

6 Immunization

If you want to receive the vaccination, please bring the pre-examination form that we will send to you individually and Mother and Child Health Handbook.
