< When an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5 upper occurs >
When an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5-upper or greater occurs in any area in Kawasaki City, the entire city is closed temporarily on the next day of the earthquake. However, if it occurs before the business hours, it's closed on the day when it occurs also.
When the day when it occurs falls on a holiday or the day before the day off (e.g. Friday), it is temporarily closed on a weekday after a holiday weekend. Please note that if a weekday after a holiday weekend is not a school day (e.g. during summer break, compensation holidays, etc...), all students' activities such as club activities are canceled.
<Going home from school>
When an earthquake with a seismic intensity of 5-upper or greater occurs in any area in Kawasaki City while students are at school, elementary schools and special support schools make sure that parents get their children directly in principle. Junior high schools and high schools follow the rule for students to go home, which has been agreed with parents in advance.
<At a storm warning issued>
If any of "Special Warning" or "Storm Warning" or "Blizzard Warning" has been issued for not only Kawasaki city but also for any cities in Kanagawa prefecture as of 6:00 AM etc., it is temporarily closed for the day. During the temporarily closure, “Waku-Waku Plaza” is also closed. However, for Evening High School or Night-time class of Nishi-Nakahara Junior High School, they will be closed if the warning is issued as of 2:00 PM.
< At a planned suspension issued >
If a railway company in Kawasaki city had implemented planned suspension on the section including all stations in the city as of 6:00 AM, it will be temporarily closed for the day. However, for Evening High School or Night-time class of Nishi-Nakahara Junior High School, they will be closed if the warning is issued as of 2:00 PM.
< Temporary closure due to opening of emergency shelter >
Schools that have been set up as emergency shelters when a major flood is occurred for an issuance of Evacuation Advisory of alert level-4 or an Evacuation Instruction (emergency) due to Flood Inundation Expected Areas, the school will be closed temporarily on the day and the following day to which the time when the Evacuation service ended belongs.
